Pushing the Walls

Pushing the Walls documents a serial performance, “One Centimeter Broader,” staged at three locations in Tehran, Iran, in August 2020. Through this enactment, the performers push the walls of three iconic buildings in Tehran to metaphorically make closer the distance between the people on one side, and history and culture on the other. Due to the harsh political climate of Iran, the performances use the symbolic elements of language to usurp censorship.
