Eileen Gray’s white villa by the shimmering Mediterranean was a tribute to love—a love that collapsed soon after the house was completed. When star architect Le Corbusiervisited the villa, he became obsessed with its perfect form and, against Gray’s will, painted massive frescoes on its walls. E.1027 is a grand hybrid film combining theater, archival footage, and newly filmed scenes from the house on the French Riviera. A story about a woman’s artistic power and a man’s attempt to dominate it.
